JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: MUSIC TEACHER (Female Teachers Preferred) 

Quantity: 01

Report to:

The Music teacher will report to Managing Director.

Job Overview:

The Music teacher is responsible for delivering music lessons and services to students in line with the music framework in place at EMASI Schools.  The music framework has been adapted from the International Cambridge Curricular Framework with integration from MOET where necessary.

The music teacher will plan and teach music lessons delivered in English across all grades. The teacher will assist students to achieve their individual academic excellence and foster their personal academic excellence while demonstrating a strong commitment to developing visual arts skills. The assistant music teacher will work with relevant classes and Home Room teachers to prepare for and organize rehearsals for special events as outlined in the school calendar.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The music teacher will be required to exercise her/his professional skills and judgement to carry out, in a collaborative manner, the professional duties set out below:

A member of the teaching staff team has the following academic responsibilities: 

  • To provide an organised, disciplined and stimulating environment in the classroom.
  • To promote practical first-hand experiences and other educationally appropriate activities for individual and group learning.
  • To provide consistent learning opportunities for all pupils.
  • To make written and/or oral assessments and evaluations of individual pupils and of the class as a whole – presenting these to the Head and parents as appropriate - meeting specified deadlines when required.
  • To keep detailed and updated lesson plans and records of group and individual work with the pupils.
  • To provide regular assessment feedback to pupils in line with school policy and use this to inform future learning.
  • To offer support and input to the development of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum.
  • Under the direction of the line-manager/ subject coordinator to take responsibilities for designated areas and aspects of the subject of which he/she is a member.
  • To take responsibility for the care, upkeep and development of school materials and resources.
  • To assist and support the process of examination and class work moderation both internally and externally.
  • To work with fellow colleagues in a spirit of mutual cooperation to maintain and enhance a pleasant professional working environment.
  • To substitute for absent colleagues when necessary.
  • To undertake any other reasonable task or duty as instructed by the Managing Director or any other line manager.
  • To attend punctually on all occasions agreed in the contract and as reasonably requested by the Managing Director or any other line manager
  • To complete all admin tasks by the school’s required timelines.

A member of the teaching staff has the following pastoral responsibilities. 

  • To carry out fully and efficiently pastoral and administrative duties as assigned by the line manager.
  • To be responsible for a reasonable number of playground, lunch and other duties as may be required.
  • To offer full support, take an active music and input into the development of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated extracurricular programme within EMASI.
  • To support and implement the positive behaviour policy.
  • To undertake any other reasonable task as instructed by the Managing Director, Deputy or any other line manager.

Qualifications:

A degree in music.

A recognised teaching qualification.

Experience:

One - Three year teaching experience with relevant age group and subject.

Experience working with Cambridge or internationally recognized music curriculum is an advantage.
