Division: Elementary School (ES)
Position: Elementary School Music Teacher (Early Childhood focus)
Reports to: ES Principal

Duties and Responsibilities
● Helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation and performance of music through a variety of planned and inquiry based experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing instruments, listening.
● Incorporating additional elements of performing arts including drama/storytelling as appropriate to engaging inquiry based units
● To teach groups/classes of students within the school as determined by the curriculum needs of the school -
○ Experience and enthusiasm teaching young learners
○ Ideally experience in playing/teaching ukulele
○ Experience with Orff and Kodaly methodologies
● Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate music lessons that align with the IB Primary
Years Programme curriculum
● Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel welcome and valued
● Encourage students to explore their creativity and express themselves through music
● Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into the overall curriculum
● Assess student progress and provide feedback to support their learning according to the school assessment policy and guidelines
● Attend and participate in professional development opportunities
● To share in the overall responsibility for the academic progress, personal development, health and safety, discipline and well-being of all students
● Support with musical accompaniment at Lower Elementary School Assemblies
● Participate in annual Arts performances/concerts for showcasing student learning to parents
● Any other reasonable duties, as directed by the Principal
● Commitment to support the ES Junior Musical
● Willingness to offer After School Activities
Position Requirements:
● A Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate in a specialisation* related to your teaching subject AND a degree in education or pedagogy OR a teaching certificate or licence
● Competency playing at least one musical instrument
● Experience teaching in an international school
● Excellent organisational and time management skills
● Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program
● Cross cultural exposure and understanding
● Experience working with EAL learners in the mainstream classroom
● Commitment to working collaboratively with a co-teacher and as part of a team
● Strong computer skills
