A Primary Homeroom Teacher needed at a K-9 Bilingual School in Pudong New District, Shanghai. Immediate start.
Job Description: As a bilingual school, a primary English teacher is responsible for all the subjects taught in English in his/her class (English, Social Studies, and Science). Our primary school English program utilizes materials regularly taught in U.S. curricula. Each grade (grades 1-5) has multiple classes, and a primary teacher collaborates with the other classes in their grade-level team. A primary teacher is also a homeroom teacher along with a Chinese national homeroom teacher, responsible for the management of students and parental communication.
We are currently looking for individuals who are passionate about education, eager to experience a new culture, and committed to love and excellence. You will work amidst an energetic and unified team of 29 foreign teachers; assume homeroom duties, where student numbers are capped at 26; and teach an average of 3 lessons per day. Classroom content and standards closely match those found in U.S. schools. A typical school day runs from 7:40am-4:00pm, five days a week. Lunch is provided every day in our cafeteria.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree [BA, BSS, BS] or higher from reputable institution.
- Two years teaching experience [preferred].
- TESL/TESOL/TEFL certification [180-hour minimum].
- Native English speaker from America or Canada.
- Technically proficient in understanding and explaining English grammar.
- Strong written & editing skills.
- Ability & willingness to effectively manage classroom environment.
- Ability & willingness to work on a team of both foreign and national staff.
- Ability & willingness to accept training and coaching.
- Ability & willingness to integrate into Chinese culture.
- Working familiarity with messaging platforms such as WeChat, Teams & Outlook; software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, GradeKeeper, et al.

- Once sufficiently trained, demonstrate ability to work autonomously & efficiently; hold oneself accountable for students’ learning outcomes.
- Design and facilitate differentiated activities that follow a coherent sequence; are aligned to instructional goals; and engage student in high-level cognitive activity.
